Seven years old to pre-teens are what we consider Juniors. There is a lot of variety in this group from a physical and mental perspective, and it changes rapidly. That said, Juniors are ready to learn how to be independent and responsible for their own actions & property. Developmentally, this group is ready to start working in complex motions and building their overall health & fitness levels. They can understand the concepts of respect, empathy, integrity and perseverance.
Physically, these are the students that can discern left from right and start to display both technique and power in martial movement. They are learning to apply their technique and improve their balance as well as coordination. We aim to improve their fine muscle coordination and move toward higher athletic ability.
Mentally, the Junior group is capable of sustained focus, memorization and attention to detail. Improved self-control is also an aim in this group. They can work with partners, and in some cases become mentors to the younger students as they progress through the ranks.
